A family steeped in mezcal production history since the 20th century but re-ignited by Carlos Moreno in 2009. Teaming up with 5th generation maestro mezcalero Perdo Hernandez, together they created Koch El Mezcal de Oaxaca with the goal of preserving mezcal culture. Made from 100% maguey Mezicano, this extraordinary large agave comes from the jungles with dry seasons and bushes. Its lanceolate leaves form a huge green to grayish rosette with sharp teeth on the edges.
There are three variations of Mexicano agave: Chontal, Mexican and Mexican Long stock, all used in this artisanal Mezcal. Mexicano "single agave" mezcals are not easy to find, this distillate is one of the best in the Koch range.
AROMA: Sweet fermented fruits
TASTE: The fermented fruits follow through on the palate with notable xoconostle (prickly pear) notes. Sweet and smooth from start to finish.
