Ocho tequila is the result of un-parrelled attention to detail in every step of the production process. Over-ripe agaves are hand selected from single estate plantations which gives the master distiller, Carlos Camarena, full control over the aroma and flavour profile of the end product. The results speak for themselves.
Each years release is equally superb but with its own nuances. This 2017 vintage is produced from 100% blue agave, harvested in 2017 at the Las Aguilas ranch – only the second agave harvest to be grown there, the first taking place around 1965! After three years maturing in ex-American whiskey barrels, it was bottled up and released as part of Ocho's single estate range. Stunning stuff, brimming with nuts and fruit, it's a splendid sipping Tequila.
AROMA: Light wafts of pear and vanilla, with hints of herbal, zesty lemon.
TASTE: Grilled pineapple, toasted nuts, and banana chips lead to sweeter floral notes, some earthen agave, toasted oak, and cinnamon.
BARREL: 3 years in ex-American whiskey barrels
ENJOY: For those looking for a different Extra Anejo that isn't all barrel
