Every artist has a muse. For Don Felipe Camarena, it was the blue weber agave. At La Altena distillery, they stay true to his vision and honour their agave using traditional handcrafted methods, elevating tequila to a work of art.
La Alteña distillery was created in 1937 by Don Felipe Camarena. He was a visionary man who saw the potential to make a great tequila in the mineral-rich highlands of Jalisco. Today, his grandson Carlos Camarena is the Master Distiller and his sister, Jenny Camarena, our first female Director of Operations. The Camarena family continues to honour the traditional way Don Felipe made tequila over 80 years ago.
