Description

Lagrimas de Dolores Lamparillo Mezcal

Agave Lamparillo is one of the latest releases from Lagrimas de Dolores and one of the most interesting expressions in their outstanding range of Mezcales.

Tough, fibrous, dry and rough on the surface. Lamparillo is a wild variety of A. Asperrima that grows specifically in arid conditions.  It's name translates to "rough"which is befitting considering it thrives in the driest parts of the Nombre de Dios and Poanas, and in the Cuencame dessert.

Like most of the Lagrimas de Dolores range, this Mezcal is best enjoyed neat and in moderation, every time you sip on this Mezcal you will discover new aromas and notes that will make it a must for every special occasion where Mezcal is needed.

AROMA: Melon, tropical fruit, tamarind, ash from a fire pit.
TASTE:  Buttery to oily on the initial hit on the tongue. Flavour leads strongly with melon, guava, honey and liquorice (especially after it opens up a bit). Really nice black pepper on the tongue. Some BBQ sauce lingering on the long finish. Overall well balanced. Extremely satisfying mezcal.
ENJOY: Delicious to sip neat or great as a cocktail inclusion for a classic Tommy's Style Mezcal Margarita, or paired with Grilled Whitefish, Humus, Poultry Dishes, Chocolates

Lagrimas de Dolores is made at Hacienda Dolores, which is run by the Gutierrez family and situated about 10 minutes from Durango City. They have a goal of replanting for each of the agave that they use in their mezcal. They report that they have an annual goal of planting around 50,000 agaves. Their bottle was designed in Feuquières, France. The leather on the cap is meant to be a signature feature from Mexican fine-horse culture. Their logo is a representation of Our Lady of Sorrows (latin: Mater Dolorosa) the patron saint of Hacienda Dolores. Their Joven and Anejo mezcal are produced entirely with Agave durangensis, which is endemic to the State of Durango in Northern Mexico. They also have special limited releases that feature rare agave like I’gok, Cimmarion, and Tepemete.
