Alipus San Luis Espadin Mezcal (750ml / 48%)
Alipus San Luis espadin mezcal is produced using 100% agave espadin from the surrounding area of the palenque which is approx 1550m above sea level. The soil is sandy and rocky and the climate is hot giving this mezcal some intense flavour.
Alipus mezcal first began in 1999 as a "social impact project" with the aim of supporting traditional mezcal producers and their lands in several regions in Oaxaca, Mexico. That has now grown to an amazing 9 independent producers in the state, all of which contribute to the development of their respective rural economies.
AROMA: Smoky, with notes of roasted maguey.
TASTE: Hints of toasted seeds; smoky flavor. Low acidity and little lingering flavour.
ENJOY: Sipping mezcal is enjoyed slowly and with friends. Pairs well with grilled octopus, salmon cooked with herbs, tamales.
