Description

This Ocho El Puertecito Single Estate Reposado is a rare gem from 2011 and now makes a collectors item. The agave for this expression was harvested in 2011 from Rancho El Puertecito. “Single Estate” means that all the agaves used to create this tequila have come from one, unique, single ranch, in this case “Rancho El Puertecito”. At 2,150 meters high. This is the highest of all the Camarena’s agave ranchos. The name meaning, “little port” remains a mystery since the nearest ocean is 350 km away.

The extreme maturity of the plants at 8.5 years of age gives a high sugar content and lots of acidity.

Ocho reposado tequila is an aged expression of tequila that honours the noble agaves of Arandas and the Camarena "ranchos". It is intense, lively and clean and is only ever made with only 100% blue weber agave. There are no additives in Ocho reposado tequila.

Ocho tequila is the result of un-paralleled attention to detail in every step of the production process. Over-ripe agaves are hand selected from single estate plantations which gives the master distiller, Carlos Camarena, full control over the aroma and flavour profile of the end product. The results speak for themselves.

AROMA: Dry vanilla extract, custard and almonds.
TASTE: Butterscotch, banana, overripe lily flowers and cut grass.
BARREL: 8 and 8 days in oak ex-American Whiskey barrels
ENJOY: On special occasions

Camarena family

The Tequila Ocho story begins with the Camarena family, who started making tequila in 1937 and are now in their third generation as tequila producers. This family is one of the few that still make tequila in the slow, artisanal way. With the Camarenas nothing is rushed or hurried during the whole process, from the growth of the agave to the final distillation.

All tequila made by the Camarena family is produced exclusively from agave from their own fields, a fact that few other producers can claim. Because the production is small-batch and carefully done, the heart and passion of the Camarenas’ Mexican soul is in each drop of their tequila. The family have only ever made 100% agave tequila.
