The second release of Corte Vertusto's Ensamble blend, a small-batch mezcal made with equal parts of three different types of agave: espadin (agave angustifolia), tobala (agave potatorum) and madre cuishe (agave karwinskii). The agave is roasted in a conical pit fired with mesquite wood before crushing with a stone tahona wheel, wild fermentation and then a unique double distillation - first in a copper pot and then a clay pot still.

Corte Vetusto mezcal is hand-crafted by Juan Carlos Gonzalez Diaz, a 4th generation Zapotec Maestro Mezcalero. The art of mezcal making was passed down through the generations since his great grandfather, Don Mauro. The name of the brand Corte Vetusto means "the ancient cut" and comes from an old story about a master mezcalero's desire to create a cut of mezcal so divine that it invokes the spirit of generations before him. That sacred distillation of earth, fire and history is the Corte Vetusto.

AROMA: Fresh citrus, earthy smoke and green olives lead, with roasted agave and toffee underneath.
TASTE: Black peppercorn prickles through vanilla, garden herbs and caramel. The finish is strong minerality as earthy vegetal notes linger.
ENJOY: Sipping mezcal is enjoyed slowly and with friends.
